A Proposal

How To "Stop Mass Shootings"

is not about guns.

We will never solve the mass shooting phenomenon as long as we assume guns are the main problem—there are more guns in the USA than cars. And nobody would suggest getting rid of automobiles if school buses were attacked by delinquents using vehicles in their slaying strategies.

Whenever a perpetrator invades a school and commits the horrendous crime of mass killing of innocent children, the USA gets extremely unsettled about the Second Amendment and the right to keep and bear arms. On one side of the spectrum are people who want to keep the laws the way they are, and the opposing side demands significant changes to gun laws.

Countless suggestions circulate on how to solve the problem but do non-address for the real actual factual circumstances causing the upheaval the entire nation has to endure.

While unfortunately, law enforcement, social scientists, psychiatrists, politicians, and the entire media don't recognize the most important reason for these types of crimes. Over 30 years of research on hundreds of attacks and slaughtering of blameless children, they do not find any solution to the continuing crisis except symbolic activities.

To put a guard in front of every classroom would add only one more victim to be harmed. Red flag laws, assault weapon ban, gun safety laws, gun show loopholes restrictions, and age limits legislation would perhaps eliminate a few perpetrators but are no complete assurance for protection either.

I have a common-sense solution to the problem on which all sides of the adversarial gun ownership issue gamut can agree.

The first question in any shooting massacre: who did it? The weapon used? And the motive for the criminal activity? So often, that motivation mystery remains unsolved, but for me, it is always the same and obvious—the transformation of an insignificant nobody to a historical someone.

I suggest concentrating less on the weapons but focusing more on the assassin's mindset, disposition, and real goal. And how to influence and change it.

Throughout history, certain people have failed and messed up, so going on in their mindset, living seemed undesirable, and suicide was considered the only option for some. So they used to escape their dreadful environment, embarrassed, isolated, and secluded.

Recently a new breed of losers emerged - the suicide mass shooter. He is usually a male, young, feeling angry, a complex victim personality combined with a predator mentality, desires publicity, and is capable of violence. He imagines another option for the horrible world he is experiencing: evolving into a notorious fighter by committing an offense that is conclusive to command recognition with his sinister justification.

This treacherous challenge requires a unique approach. We need a law that demands an everywhere and anytime anonymous description (John Doe) of the perpetrators, including no image of them by all media. This will defeat their purpose for that type of misconduct and desired recognition.

A new type of John Doe law is an urgent necessity because of the ongoing competition of the copycat evildoer's sick mentality to outperform their numerous role models (600+ in 2022)  for adequate recognition by raising the target number count of victims. This fact is not limited to school mass shooters. To be known forever is an overall human desire, but nowadays, it includes any reason.

People explained to me that in a country where free speech and "Freedom Of The Press" is sacred, a John Doe law I propose is impossible. Think again. In 2022 law in Illinois and Missouri, among 14 other states, makes it a crime to reveal a lottery winner's identity.

INFO-GLUT DILEMMA

We live in a spectacular time ...............

Many people believe we are now living in an Information Age. But one thing is for sure: knowledge is more available now than it ever was. Never before has humankind accumulated knowledge at such speed or in such magnitude. Never before in history could so many people be connected instantly worldwide in real time!

This phenomenon has come about in recent years by the proliferation of mass media--from the traditional print media of books, newspapers and magazines to the established broadcast media of radio and TV, and finally, through the development of the Internet. Today the pinnacle of instant fact-finding is the Google search engine. For more information on these developments, look at Wikipedia  (free encyclopedia) "Mass Media," history and timeline.

What's wrong with it ..............................

For example, if you did a Google search of the Second World War on 8/1/2006, you would find over 265,000,000 entries: 14,200,000 alone for Adolf Hitler and 65,500,000 for the holocaust. In the face of such an overwhelming barrage of information, anyone would find it no less than daunting to glean even a modicum of truth about that bleak period in human (or, should we say, inhuman) history. If at this point you still adhere to the adage that "knowledge is power," then I would offer a counter-claim that sometimes it seems as though "ignorance is bliss."

This quandary applies not only to wars and politics but to almost any field you may want to explore: scientific discoveries, religious beliefs, business enterprises and innovations, arts, sports and other entertainment, and everything else in between or beyond, for that matter. Information may abound, but knowledge and truth are as elusive as ever. The more you know, the more you begin to realize how much you don't know. One answered inquiry leads to a myriad of unanswered questions. Escapism now becomes a necessity for your sanity.

What's has to be done ............................

It is great to have plenty of information. But if the desire to make sense of that information is not matched by new methods to accomplish such a feat, then all that new information is produced in vain. In fact, if a person does not know how to correlate all this information, its abundance merely adds to his or her confusion and dismay.

Today, most people live in a four-dimensional universe--that is, three-dimensional space intersecting with time. This was a useful construct which served us well for a long time. But limiting ourselves to this way of thinking now makes it virtually impossible for us to process the overwhelming info onslaught we find ourselves faced with every day. To help solve this problem, I have developed a mega-dimensional model which I believe is a necessity for the world we live in now. This model is good for children and grown-ups as well as for academics and anyone else who truly wants to understand.

A promise ....................................................

Historically, two contrasting philosophical approaches are at work in our search for understanding: One is atomism, which attempts to break things down into separate parts; the opposite, holism, represents an all-encompassing, holistic approach, one in which everything is related to everything else. In my mega-dimensional model, I try to synthesize these two seemingly opposed methods. Understanding society (sociology) is for me the most important part of this model. Perhaps for you the main advantage may be a better understanding of your personal identity and the fulfillment of your individual needs. But whatever your priorities, there is virtually nothing anybody could come up with that would not fit into this model.

My personal experience and approach ..................

The first step in my mega-dimensional quest was the writing of a book entitled, "What's the Purpose." Briefly, this book describes how, from my experience in the art world and years of scholarly research, I came to realize the existence of an innate (and accessible) structure in our universe. After more than twenty years of trial-and-error, I was finally able to construct a practical, interactive model that would enable us to organize and correlate seemingly disparate aspects of existence (including traditional academic and professional disciplines), many of which had heretofore never been considered to have any relationship.
